Released Prisoners' Committee condemns decision to add Nachshon Wachsman's kidnapper-murderers to US terror watch list

Headline: “Gaza: The Prisoners’ Committee condemned the American decision against the released prisoners”

“The Released Prisoners’ Committee of the National and Islamic Forces in the Gaza Strip yesterday [Sept. 17, 2015] condemned the decision of the American State Department to put the names of released Palestinian and Arab prisoners on the terror lists, which provides Israel with justification for targeting them and constitutes a danger to their lives. The Prisoners’ Committee, in a special statement published after its periodic meeting held at the [PLO-member] Palestinian Arab Front headquarters in the Gaza Strip, called for a larger Palestinian and Arab legal and diplomatic role in order to deal with the challenges and attacks surrounding the released Palestinian and Arab prisoners, even after their release from Israeli prisons as part of [prisoner] exchange deals or agreements made under Arab and international auspices. This was in its statements on the fact that the US placed the names of released Palestinian and Arab prisoners - Rawhi Mushtaha, Yahya Al-Sinwar, and Samir Kuntar – on the terror lists, which gives Israel the green light to target them.

The Released Prisoners’ Committee of the National and Islamic Forces in the Gaza Strip condemned the international and humanitarian silence in the face of the crimes being openly committed in the occupation's prisons against the Palestinian prisoners, without any effective international action to stop the spilling of Palestinian blood. This is while the US and Israel are fooling the world by falsifying facts and attempting to present the Palestinian and Arab prisoners and released [prisoners] as terrorists. Likewise, the committee emphasized that resistance is the legal right of all oppressed peoples, and the right of our people to live with dignity and freely like the rest of the peoples of the world. It should be noted that released prisoners Rawhi Mushtaha and Yahya Al-Sinwar were released in the Shalit deal on Oct. 18, 2011, while the released Arab [prisoner] Samir Kuntar was released in 2008 as part of the [prisoner] exchange deal between the Lebanese Hezbollah and Israel.”

Yahya Al-Sinwar - senior member of Hamas who participated in the kidnapping and killing of Israeli soldier Nachshon Wachsman in 1994. Al-Sinwar was sentenced to 4 life sentences, but was released early as part of the Shalit prisoner exchange deal in 2011.

Rawhi Mushtaha - one of the founders of the Izz A-Din Al-Qassam Brigades (Hamas’ military wing), Mushtaha was one of the planners of the kidnapping and killing of Israeli soldier Nachshon Wachsman in 1994. Mushtaha was sentenced to 4 life sentences, but was released early as part of the Shalit prisoner exchange deal in 2011.

Samir Kuntar - A Lebanese terrorist who murdered 4 Israelis in Nahariya in 1979: 3 members of the Haran family - 4-year-old Einat Haran, who Kuntar murdered by smashing her head with his rifle butt, 2-year-old Yael, who was accidentally suffocated as her mother tried to keep her silent while they hid from the terrorists, and their father, Danny Haran - and Eliyahu Shahar, the first policeman to respond. Kuntar was sentenced by Israel to 4 life sentences. He was released in a deal between Israel and Hezbollah in July 2008, exchanged for the bodies of Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, Israeli soldiers kidnapped and killed by Hezbollah in 2006.
On Dec. 19, 2015, he was killed in an explosion in Syria. An Israeli airstrike is suspected by some, though the Free Syrian Army took credit.
