Fatah supports “the current Palestinian mass insurgency” and “did not throw down its weapons”

Headline: “Fatah in Jerusalem: ‘We did not abandon the weapon, and we support the Al-Aqsa Mosque Murabitin”
“The Israeli attacks and actions, which are escalating on the West Bank and have reached a peak, caused some Palestinian factions to accuse the Fatah movement of absence from the political scenes which are gaining momentum in the West Bank and Jerusalem, and of not adopting the mass insurgency. This is while the movement insists that it is an inseparable part of this insurgency. Official Fatah Spokesman in occupied Jerusalem Raafat Alayan stated: ‘The mass insurgency in the West Bank and Jerusalem broke out as a result of the steps Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is taking, striving to create tensions in the area through his current extreme government.’
Alayan emphasized to Donia Al-Watan that the Fatah movement supports the current mass insurgency in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, through aid to the Murabitin (those carrying out Ribat, religious conflict/war to protect land claimed to be Islamic) in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in different ways, such as organizing trips to Umrah and to Hajj in Mecca, and several initiatives to prevent the settlers’ invasions… He noted that the Fatah movement did not throw down its weapons, and that it stopped the negotiations, that there are those who use it to bash the viewpoints of the movement. Alayan said that [PA] President [Mahmoud] Abbas’ speech and the turn to popular steps are an inseparable part of the resistance and the adoption of all types of resistance.”
