Fatah official commemorates anniversary of terror leader George Habash, calls him a "national leader," "courageous and smart fighter"

“Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner of International Relations Dr. Nabil Shaath said today, Thursday [Feb. 4, 2016], on the anniversary of George Habash’s death: ‘We lost a unique national leader, who guarded the historic basic principles, and he had an important role in guarding the PLO, the only legal representative of the Palestinian people.’
This was said during a ceremony in Nablus in honor of the eighth anniversary of the death of Dr. George Habash, founder of the movement of Arab nationalists and leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Shaath referred to Martyr (Shahid) Habash’s role in the realization of Palestinian national unity and the continuation of the Palestinian struggle for return and self-definition, and for his role as a true partner of Yasser Arafat, particularly in difficult moments and crucial decisions… He said: ‘Habash was a courageous and smart fighter, who guarded the unity and basic principles. In our present stage we are inspired by his national chronicles and the chronicles of his struggle, to restore the legitimacy of the PLO and to continue the struggle against the Israeli enemy and the settlement occupation.

George Habash - Founder of the terror organization Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). The PFLP has planned and carried out numerous terror attacks against Israeli civilians since its founding in 1967 and throughout the Palestinian terror campaign between 2000- 2005 (the Intifada).
