Official PA daily: 50% of prisoners serving life sentences are from Fatah

"In a report published by the [PLO] Commission of Prisoners' Affairs it was stated that on the eve of the preparations for convening the Seventh Fatah Movement Conference on Nov. 29, 2016, 57% of the approximately 7,000 prisoners sitting in the [Israeli] prisons are affiliated with Fatah. [Likewise, it was stated] that 90% of the veteran prisoners who have sat [in prison] for more than 20 years are from Fatah, and first among them is the most veteran prisoner, Karim Younes…
The Commission [of Prisoners’ Affairs] said that approximately 50% of those serving one or more life sentences are affiliated with Fatah."

Karim Younes - an Israeli Arab serving a 40-year sentence for kidnapping and killing Israeli soldier Avraham Bromberg in 1980 together with his cousin Maher Younes. Originally sentenced to life in prison, but Israeli President Shimon Peres reduced his sentence in 2012.
