Fatah Facebook re-posts grotesque cartoon showing Israel’s minister of culture as angel of death

Cartoon and text posted on the official Fatah Facebook page

The cartoon refers to a dress worn by Israeli Minister of Culture and Sport Miri Regev at the Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2017. The dress featured the skyline of Jerusalem rising from its hem, showing the Tower of David and the Temple Mount with the Dome of the Rock on it, in honor of the upcoming 50th anniversary of the unification of Jerusalem in the 1967 Six Day War on May 24, 2017.

Posted text: “A drawing by Brazilian artist Carlos Latuff; the true appearance of [Israeli Minister of Culture and Sport] Miri Regev’s racism.”

In a grotesque depiction of the Jerusalem patterned dress worn by Israeli Minister Miri Regev at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017, the cartoon shows a female figure, whose head is a skull, wearing a dress with an Israeli flag motif at the top and a picture at the bottom of a fighter jet bombing a town with “Gaza” written on it, as a Palestinian mother runs with a baby in her arms in the foreground.
