Fatah branch in Bethlehem posts interview with terrorist serving 11 life sentences for murdering 10 Israelis

Posted text: "Prisoner sniper Thaer Hammad (i.e., terrorist, murdered 10), 24 bullets after the morning prayer and a sentence of 11 life sentences.
It is not possible to talk about the path road between Nablus and Ramallah and to ignore the Wadi Al-Haramiya operation (i.e., terror attack), which took place in March 2002 and was carried out by prisoner Thaer Hammad.
Hammad spoke about the complicated operation that he carried out alone at the site in an interview that went to the media outlets from his prison in 2008, in which he said: 'I left the house after the morning prayer, after preparation that included four days of monitoring the Israeli military site, and after I knew the changing of the watches and the times well. The Wadi Al-Haramiya checkpoint is on the lands of Silwad, and the same night I made up my mind and decided that I would do it the next day.'
He added: 'I woke up early in the morning and after the prayer I took an M1 rifle with me, three magazines, and 40 bullets that I bought with my own money. I left the village on foot at about 6:00 a.m., and went to a mountain that is across from the military checkpoint at a distance of 60 to 70 meters from it. I chose an olive tree with a wide and large trunk, hid behind it, and aimed the rifle. I started to shoot one shot after the other. The first that I shot at was a soldier that came in a military jeep from the direction of Nablus, and he was fatally wounded. Afterwards, I shot 2 soldiers that were at the checkpoint, and I shot and killed them immediately. Three soldiers came out of the small building at the checkpoint. I shot at them and nobody really understood where the shooting was coming from. Afterwards, a car of settlers came. They stopped at the checkpoint and I shot at them before they understood what the source of the bullets was. Afterwards a military vehicle came, and they began to shoot straight towards where I was, and I succeeded in wounding 2 of them. Thus the number of killed reached 11 (sic., 10), in addition to 10 seriously wounded (sic., 4 wounded). This was despite my not shooting more than 24 bullets, which all succeeded in causing injury. However, in the meantime my rifle exploded. I tried to fix it, but it came apart in my hands during the shooting. With the arrival of additional military vehicles, I decided to retreat while shooting.'
Hammad said: 'What is strange is that they did not try to pursue me and were in a state of shock and panic, and did not dare go near the wounded for a while. I left the place, went up the mountain, and walked west towards the village of Jaljulia. Afterwards, I returned east and crossed the road in the direction of my village, Silwad. Before 7:30 a.m., I had already managed to take a shower; I lay down in my bed, and a deep sleep overtook me. I woke up in the afternoon, and suddenly everyone and all of the media outlets in the world and the people in the village talked about the operation. I acted like one of the people, and did not say anything to anyone, and no response or feeling regarding this operation was seen on me.’"
