Op-ed: Zionist movement was established by “Khazar tribes,” who have no connection to “the children of Jacob”; “Colonialist and imperialist forces” chose to "plant an aggressive entity" in "Palestine" to "divide" Arab nations

Excerpt of an op-ed by Yahya Rabah, a regular columnist for the official PA daily

Headline: "The tragedy of the Nakba and the wonders of resolve"

"At this time we remember the 70th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel), a comprehensive act of aggression that was carried out against us not because we sinned, and not because we committed a crime… but rather because the course of history… caused the same strong parties – then and afterwards – to use their brutal power against us. They used the Zionist movement, which was established… by peoples of the Khazar tribes, who have no connection to the children of Jacob (Israel) [parentheses in source]… Since Canaanite Palestine is an organic part of the Fertile Crescent (a region of the Middle East where early human agriculture and civilization flourished –Ed.), the colonialist and imperialist forces decided to choose Palestine in order to plant an aggressive entity in it that would divide the united Arab nation into east and west, north and south."
