During a speech that he gave on behalf of [PA] President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas at the Media in the Eyes of Jerusalem Summit… Assaf expressed his deep appreciation, on his own behalf and on behalf of all of the employees of the official [PA] media, to the organizers of this important summit, which deals with one of the most central and important matters in the struggle with the Zionist project, if not the most important of them.
He said: ‘Jerusalem, with its historical, cultural, and religious status, is the core of the struggle over the narrative; Zionism, its branches, and the occupation governments throughout the generations have acted and are still acting to seize exclusive ownership of Jerusalem through a false narrative that is not supported by history and is also not supported by the excavations – even those they have carried out themselves (sic., historical records and archeological findings confirm the Jewish connection to Jerusalem and Israel). The established fact remains unchanged; Jerusalem – with its past, present, and future – will remain Palestinian-Arab-Islamic-Christian.’”
