PLO official participates in ceremony honoring imprisoned terrorist, prisoners are "symbols and heroes of the national activity"

Headline: "Karake: The time in the black prison have not succeeded in overcoming our prisoners' will to live"
         "Director of [PLO] Commission of Prisoners’Affairs Issa Karake said that the long years in the black prison have not succeeded in overcoming the will of our brave prisoners in the occupation's prison to live and be free...Karake said this during the ceremony of loyalty and appreciation for prisoner Issa Salem Darabi (i.e., terrorist, murdered 1) (a resident of Dura) for the beginning of his 24th year in the occupation's prison... Karake noted that 46 prisoners have been sitting in the occupation's prison for more than 20 years, and that despite the arbitrary steps against the prisoners... they remain the symbols and heroes of the national activity and of the struggle behind bars... It should be noted that prisoner Issa Salem Darabi was arrested in 2001 and sentenced to life. Previously, he was arrested in 1986 and served seven and a half years... Prisoner Darabi worked in the [PA] Presidential Guard before he was arrested."

Issa Darabi – Palestinian terrorist who was a member of PA Presidential Security Force 17 and former bodyguard of Yasser Arafat. On July 9, 2001, Darabi detonated an explosive targeting an Israeli army jeep in the south Hebron region and murdered Israeli soldier Shai Cohen. Darabi also placed an explosive on a road targeting the Israeli Army Chief of Staff’s convoy in November 2001. Darabi is serving a life sentence.
