"(The following is a folk saying about two donkeys discussing which of them is the greater fool –Ed.) The doctor donkey said to his friend: 'I'm a simple fool because I'm a fool and know that I'm a fool. As for you, you're a "complicated" fool because you're a fool and don't know you are one.' It could be that this philosophical saying fits [US President] Donald Trump perfectly, because he is continuing to open the files of anarchy, and is causing the greatest extent of tumult and anarchy, in order to impose his one-sided positions…
All of this has created a pattern of aggressive actions and decisions by President Trump, beginning with the decision to give Jerusalem to Israel as a gift with the stroke of a pen, [and] the transfer of his embassy as a settlement outpost to [Jerusalem] (Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital on Dec. 6, 2017, and transferred the US embassy to Jerusalem on May 14, 2018; see note below –Ed.) so that it would fit the characteristics of real estate dealer [US Ambassador to Israel] David Friedman, who is reviving the character of 'Shylock’ (refers to an evil Jewish moneylender in a Shakespearean play who demands that a debtor repay him with a pound of his own flesh –Ed.), who was created by the greatest playwright in the English world, William Shakespeare."
US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel - On Dec. 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Trump added that the final borders of Jerusalem will be determined during negotiations.
The US embassy opened in Jerusalem on May 14, 2018, the anniversary of Israel's declaration of independence in 1948 according to the Gregorian calendar.
Shylock – refers to a character in William Shakespeare’s play The Merchant of Venice. Shylock is an antisemitic depiction of a cunning Jewish moneylender who demands that a debtor repay him with a pound of his own flesh. Later, Shylock is charged with attempted murder of a Christian and – instead of receiving the death penalty – is ordered to surrender his wealth and forced to convert to Christianity.
“Shylock” has since become an antisemitic term to describe Jews pejoratively as those who lend money at excessive rates.
