Headline: “Fatah Revolutionary Council: The Trump administration’s policy in Jerusalem threatens the security and stability in the region”
“Fatah Movement Revolutionary Council Deputy Secretary Fayez Abu Aita said that the current American administration’s policy and actions in occupied Jerusalem constitute a war against the Palestinian people… and threaten the security and stability in the region.
Abu Aita emphasized in a statement to [the official PA news agency] WAFA that the transfer of the American consulate to what is called ‘the American embassy in Jerusalem’ (i.e., merger of the US consulate general in Jerusalem with the US embassy on March 4, 2019) is not only a war against the Palestinian people, but rather constitutes blatant aggression against the Arab nation and Islamic nation.”

US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel
- On Dec. 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Trump added that the final borders of Jerusalem will be determined during negotiations.
The US embassy was transferred from Tel Aviv and opened in Jerusalem on May 14, 2018, the anniversary of Israel's declaration of independence in 1948 according to the Gregorian calendar.
