PA briefs UN delegation about Israeli “violations against education” in the city

Headline: “Hebron: The UN delegation is briefed on the occupation’s pressures on education”
“The Hebron Directorate of Education (i.e., under the PA Ministry of Education) briefed a delegation from the UN institutions about the pressures and violations of the occupation and its settlers against education in the city. [The Hebron Directorate of Education] said in a statement yesterday [Oct. 21, 2017] that the delegation – which includes representatives from UNICEF (UN Children’s Fund), UNESCO (UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization), UNSCO (The Office of the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process), the European Union, and OCHA (UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) – visited the Al-Faiha Elementary School for Girls and the Al-Ibrahimi Elementary School for Boys…
U N Deputy Special Coordinator for the [Middle East] Peace Process and UN Humanitarian Coordinator Robert Piper, who headed the delegation, focused on the right to education and the UN institutions’ attention to the areas of friction with the occupation. He showed understanding of the uniqueness of Hebron, the Old City [of Hebron], and the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., the Cave of the Patriarchs), following the violations that [Hebron] is subjected to and that affect the residents, students, administration bodies, and education, which requires attention and an attempt to overcome these crises.”
